We rescued this dilapidated old mansion which had beeen cut into a dozen substandard units. We restored its historic character as we remodeled it into three luxury flats. We retained some winning architectural elements of earlier Victorian, Craftsman, and Modern renovations. We removed substandard additions from the back that were obstructing light and air. We decreased overall square footage in exchange for a refreshed connection between the interior and the garden. The house now stands among several guardians of the neighborhood’s architectural heritage.
Among our contemporary improvements, we converted the attic into a gracious master bedroom suite and connected all the kitchens to a new, spacious three-story veranda.
