In this converted old Oakland school building we combined two former classrooms into one large two-story dwelling unit. Judicious selection and location of a spiral stair let us define distinct use areas within an open plan while conserving space and making an elegant visual statement.
The architecture of this Aesthetic Movement building already blended Victorian and Craftsman elements. We brought to it an edited, timeless Modern sensibility appropriate to our clients, one of whom has an adjacent sculpture studio.
