Quite often our first act when we re-conceive a project is to subtract years of accumulated additions that block the house from the land around it. Often these additions were made at the expense of light, air and architectural integrity. Still, connecting homes to their sites sometimes requires creating a new layer of space that integrates indoor and outdoor spaces in an addition.
