This project involved the construction of a new kitchen for a gourmet client who wished to have both a kitchen apt for a team of chefs and space for guests keen on gastronomy. The new kitchen uses vertical proportions and solid stone finishes to create a formal and almost rustic feel, in contrast with the surrounding modern interiors. A large island marks the center of the space, while the wood oven is the special attraction. The new dining room bar and serving hatch make it easier to attend to guests. High doors allow light into the kitchen, softening the effect of the house's long axis. The layout provides a comfortable, functional and urbane setting for cooking and hosting dinner parties.
